Let us pray for the people of Japan. The massive earthquake that struck them has resulted in much damage and death.
Let us pray that in the midst of their fear, awe, and panic, that they’d be overcome by the reality that they are not in charge of their lives. That everything they’ve worked to create can be taken away in the blink of an eye. That control is an illusion, and death is a reality.
And let us pray for awareness of that same reality upon ourselves. Let us pray for ourselves to be affected by this tragedy; let it remind us that this is why we work. This is why we strive for the Lord today. We may not be here tomorrow.
“Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.” -James 4:14
