Statuses

Remember

In Quick Thought, Soul Food on May 6, 2011 by The Spillover

Reading through Deuteronomy, one thought keeps jumping off the pages:

“Remember that you were once slaves in the land of Egypt, but the LORD your God redeemed you from your slavery.”

The call for the people to remember their former slavery is repeated quite a few times as they’re preparing to enter the land God promised to them.
This speaks of the character of our Father.
And speaks to us today.
As He’s moving us toward glory…
He wants us to remember.
Remember that you were once slaves.
Remembering this must be central to our lives.
It spurs us on and points to His glory.
It is fuel for our passion, for our Kingdom work, for our giving, for our worship, for our study, for our witnessing.
Remember, remember, that you were once slaves to sin, but the LORD your God redeemed you from your slavery.
Remember that you were once held captive by the opinions of others, by your fleshly desires, by your selfish pleasures, by the “status quo”, by finding purpose in things that could never deliver.
Remember that you were once prisoners…
to lust…
to greed…
to envy…
to hate…
to self-worship…
to [enter your word here]…
But the LORD your God redeemed you from your slavery.
