Sunday Preview

In Sunday Preview on January 14, 2012 by The Spillover

You know when you miss church and then find out we took Communion and you say “Gee golly, I sure wish I hadn’t missed Communion”? Well we are going to help you avoid such a situation. Tomorrow’s a Communion Sunday. What a joy, what an honor, what a divine pleasure it is to take part in the sacrament that Christ left to His disciples. We should never underestimate the power that comes with sharing in the bread and the wine as tangible reminders of His broken body and spilled blood.

The Scripture for tomorrow is Luke 11:29-32:

When the crowds were increasing, he began to say, “This generation is an evil generation. It seeks for a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah. For as Jonah became a sign to the people of Nineveh, so will the Son of Man be to this generation. The queen of the South will rise up at the judgment with the men of this generation and condemn them, for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and behold, something greater than Solomon is here. The men of Nineveh will rise up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it, for they repented at the preaching of Jonah, and behold, something greater than Jonah is here.

Come learn with us on Sunday. I thank God that we have such a faithful teaching pastor who unpacks the WORD for us, methodically and effectively. These aren’t just words – Scripture is fresh air to the lungs of our soul.

Here are the songs we’ll be singing to God:

May I be blunt? Something very big is going on at Calvary Baptist Church. I don’t say that as a prophet, but as a man with eyes and ears.

See you tomorrow.
