Take Everything

In Music,Richard Rich,Soul Food on August 22, 2011 by The Spillover

Greetings Calvary Family,

My name is Rich(ie/ard) Rich and I have grown up for the past nine years at Calvary, learning, growing in my faith and being discipled by men I respect thoroughly.  Thank you to Pastors Dave and Aaron and the rest of the people at CBC for investing in me – I am eternally grateful.

My passion in life is in songwriting, as some of you might know from the songs that I have shared on Sunday mornings.  Writing songs is my way of expressing things that I could not otherwise express.  I have been convicted over the last year about the fact that the Lord has laid these songs on my heart, and made it clear to me to share them, but I have not done all that I can to make it happen.  I have had everything I need to make it happen for years, but have not done anything.

Finally I built up the courage to follow through and below is the first of many recordings that I’ll be sharing with Calvary and the world.  This first song is about conviction, grace, patience, and giving up everything to follow Christ. I hope you enjoy!

I am not worthy
Of Your grace or Your love
Because I am not ready
To give up what I’ve built up
Even though I know
It’s all for naught
And I fail daily
It’s what I’m good at
I can count on it
But I can’t quite figure out
Why for years I have known
What must be done
But I haven’t done it yet
I think it’s time to give up
But you say,
“No, oh no
I have filled you with my love,
And you’re learning through it all:
Not your will but mine be done.
Son you should know by now
That these things take time
You will try and fail,
But I’ll be there
To pick you up!”
I am still not worthy
Of Your grace or Your love
But it’s time now
To lay it all down
I lay it all down
Guide me now.
Guide me now
I lay it all down
Take everything
It’s all Yours anyway
I lay it all down
Guide me now
But you say,
“Child, my child
I have filled you with my love,
And you’re learning through it all:
Not your will but mine be done.
Son you should know by now
That these things take time
You will try and fail,
But I’ll be there
To pick you up!”
